Hospitality in person. The Hospitalitist was founded in 2005 by Maarten Vooijs. During his studies at Hotelschool The Hague, Maarten worked as an Event Manager in Amsterdam. He found a lack of service quality and qualified employees within the industry.

Maarten called himself The Hospitalitist, hospitality in person. With this vision in mind, Maarten made a platform together with Daan Meischke in 2008. They started placing the right professionals in the right locations within the hospitality industry in Amsterdam. Our experiences gained at various organizations that contributes to the personal development of new employees.

What is Hospitality?

Literally translated, hospitality means: being hospitable. The dictionary takes it a step further, defining hospitality as “the entirety of activities associated with receiving the guests with goodwill in a professional matter”. This in itself gives us a good idea of the meaning of hospitality. In practice, hospitality includes so much more. For example, it is important that people listen carefully to the guests wishes. Immerse yourself with the entire team in the customers “experience” and exceed their expectations. This way you will provide the hospitality that your customers expect and deserve.

There is a constant need for the above qualities within the industry. Especially catering, festivals, events and horeca will benefit from this. However, The Hospitalitist is also experienced within museums, attraction and theme parks. Hospitality is important for everything that involves contact with customers and guests. This is where The Hospitalitist is specialized in.

Recruitment & Selection

More than 65% of matches made by recruiters do not last longer than 1 year. This is because the real success of the match is determined by the guidance that the employee and organization receive in the first period. This is what The Hospitalitist does; making an inventory of which profiles are needed, recruiting the right employees with these profiles and supervising them during the first period. The fit between an employee and your organization determines how successful the match is. The objective of your organization is our starting point. Afterwards, we jointly determine which way of working best suits this: temporarily employment, secondment, hiring or a combination of these.

Training & coaching

In a world that is constantly changing, it is a must to continuously develop your organization and your employees, so that you can continue responding to these ongoing changes. Training and coaching are continuously given to our own employees. Personal and organizational development is a permanent part of The Hospitalist’s business operations. The knowledge and experience we gain with this are also available for you. Planning & operations

In this sector, there are two options: running or standing still. You have to deal with peak loads. You do not prefer working with multiple parties.
